Last night at the Iowa City Public Library, Dreamwell hosted a remembrance for those who died six years ago on 9/11. We performed two scenes from That Day in September, read the names of the victims who had lived in Iowa and surrounding states, sang a couple of songs, and shared our memories and thoughts about that day.
I was touched most by the mom who talked about her son who had assisted in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks. She recalled praying that he wouldn't see any bodies, but of course he did. But she shared something else that really warmed my heart. Her son said that everytime they found a part of a victim, they treated that person's remains with complete reverence and respect.
It was broadcast live on the Library channel and will be shown again in October. So watch for it if you can.
