Rachel and I voted at her school this morning. They have a "kids vote" booth set up. The ballot has pictures of the candidates, which Rachel appreciated since "you know, we're just kids." The only race she was familiar with was the presidential one, but apparently there were the Senate races on there too. She voted for the Democrat in every race. Apparently she's been listening to her mother too much. I think I need to talk to her about voting for the person, not the party.
We got there about five minutes after the polls opened and the line was out the door. I was the 77th person to vote at Wickham. I'd say we're in for a record turnout, no doubt about it. Of course, after what happened caucus night, that's no surprise.
The main feeling I have today is elation. For the first time, I am voting for someone and not against the really bad choice. No lesser of two evils choice this year! Of course, it will come as no shock to anyone who reads this blog that I voted for Obama. We are at a turning point in history and he is the man to lead us forward. Every step of the way, he has shown courage, conviction, intelligence, and insight into the issues that face our nation and the world. There is no doubt in my mind that he is the right choice. I am proud to say I voted for him.
Rachel told me that really wants Obama to win because then she will have shaken a president's hand.

I've felt the same way about this election: it's so good to be voting FOR someone instead of against someone. That's how an election should feel!
